So it’s often said that FotoFlexer is the world’s most advanced online image editor. That’s true, six patents pending and more on the way. However, FotoFlexer people also like to have FUN. So we thought it’d be nice to start a series of blog postings that highlight some of the more fun and interesting FotoFlexer features. Many, many, people say they really enjoy using the real-time web-cam functions. Here’s an example:

FotoFlexer’s web cam integration feature is located in the “Geek” tab. FotoFlexer allows users to snap images from their web cam and import them onto the editing canvas, and also is the only product to enable real-time distortions and effects to be applied to the video stream. It’s a lot of fun, try it out!

We hope you enjoyed a wonderful year! We’ve been busy, and having fun at FotoFlexer. Since it’s the year-end, we thought we’d reflect on some of the nice things written about FotoFlexer:
“FotoFlexer [is] a user-friendly photo editor that offers one-click tweaks, along with advanced tools on par with desktop class photo editing software. All in all, FotoFlexer is a really well put together app that could make a solid piece of standalone software. The fact that it’s free and runs in your browser makes it even better.”
– Webware
“FotoFlexer is a powerful, simple-to-use, highly automated and feature rich online photo editing and enhancement tool. Probably the best web-based Photoshop alternative out there.”
– Makeuseof.com
“FotoFlexer looks like the editor that devoured the features of all the rest and then went back for seconds.”
– Lifehacker.com
“FotoFlexer continues to be my favorite online photo editing tool.”
– Michael Arrington, TechCrunch
“FotoFlexer is a powerful Web-based image editing solution with features that let users do more with their images than any other online editing site — and in some cases, even more than can be accomplished with desktop photo editing software like Photoshop.”
– CameraTown
“FotoFlexer: Incredibly clever image resizing.”
– CNET
“Rich Internet Applications in action: FotoFlexer, Nike Air and eBay Desktop”
– Adobe online RIA showcase
We truly appreciate the great support and feedback. 2008 will bring some great surprises that no one on the internet has ever seen before. Stay tuned.

FotoFlexer, the world’s most advanced Web-based image editing solution, today announced that it is one of the first applications to have already implemented the new OpenSocial APIs – launched today by Google – as a fundamental step toward making the Web more social. FotoFlexer also announced today that it has surpassed one million users – reaching 1.3 million users in just two months since its launch. Additionally, Silicon Valley veteran Sharam Shirazi, initially an advisor to the company, has joined FotoFlexer as the CEO to help lead the explosive growth the company is experiencing and will continue to experience as an early adopter of the OpenSocial APIs.
FotoFlexer is pleased to have been invited by Google to participate in OpenSocial as a Launch Partner. We look forward to an exciting partnership, and the ability to provide fun, and technologically advanced products to a wide array of Internet users worldwide.
Last night, our very own Neil Warren was invited to attend Google’s Campfire event to commemorate the launch of the OpenSocial platform. Neil had a GREAT time, enjoyed stimulating conversation, and was talking strategy with Google’s Eric Schmidt when interrupted for the snap below. (Oh, those paparazzi are everywhere these days.)

The new FotoFlexer Smart Resize feature can be applied in many ways. It relies upon sophisticated computational algorithms to resize an image, while maintaining original photo scale and composition. This represents a vast improvement over traditional resize tools which typically distort an image into an unusable form. Here’s an example of how Smart Resize works.
Original photo of two girls who just enjoyed eating a nice picnic lunch at the beach:

FotoFlexer Smart Resize is used to choose a photo element to preserve (in green) and another to eliminate (in red):

And the magic of FotoFlexer Smart Resize creates the new, desired image while maintaining the scale and composition of the entire photo:

There are many fun ways to apply this feature, imagine the possibilities. You can view a demo video discussing FotoFlexer Smart Resize here: http://fotoflexer.com/demos.php
Happy FotoFlexing!
